The Song:Climbing Up The Walls” ~ Radiohead. (‘OK Computer’. 1997)

Inspiration:So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish” ~ Douglas Adams, my hallucinations.

Starts off with a man getting up in the morning, a new day. Leaves house. As he turns the doorknob (zoom-in on hand turning doorknob), there’s a sign next to the door which turns on. The sign reads “You Are Now Entering The Asylum”. Outside is a normal morning (Saturday). People in their cars on the street, people playing the park, a mother pushing a baby in a pram. Except… they’re all wearing straitjackets, have fucked up frizzy hair and are shouting wildly. The man continues to walk… into various everyday locations and sees the same things. Normal scenes except everyone’s in straitjackets, wild hair and shouting furiously. Walks into a park where there’s an apple tree. Walks up to the tree just as an apple falls from it. He picks it up, looks at it, looks up to the tree with an inquisitive look and takes a bite (he does this 3:04 into the song). The moment he bites into it, everyone in the straitjackets look at him. He turns around and begins to run (in slow motion). The crowd follows him. He is almost at his doorstep when the pounce on him. His index finger is reaching for the door next to which is a sign that says “You Are Now Leaving The Asylum”. He can’t reach the door as more and more people in straitjackets pounce on him and as he screams (as does Thom Yorke), the camera pans out wide (city, country, earth, galaxy) and then reveals that the man is himself in a straitjacket inside a padded cell with a couple of doctors outside his door looking in through a peephole.
